Opportunists, or ....?

Gas prices around here went up between 15 and 60 cents overnight. Cheapest I've found 93 octane is $3.16/g. Most outrageous I've seen is $3.60 at the place next door to my office.

I think it's 35% shortage and 65% profiteering. I'm shocked that our dependency is so immediate, that if production stops for several days in one spot, we're jacked up through the roof. Read "The Long Emergency" by James Howard Kunstler if you REALLY want an eye opener on this issue. We're headed for some big changes in our lifetime, at first for the worst but then for the better, in terms of our petroleum dependency.
